Learning Objective
This lesson will introduce students to the different Bardi words used throughout the Bardi Community. Students will write these words down and identify there meaning and write the pronunciation of the words using the guide at the front of the book. These Bardi words will be used throughout the unit.

Understand that the pronunciation, spelling and meanings of words have histories and change over time (ACELA1500)
Classroom Organisation
This basis of this activity will be completed as a whole class activity and then broken into smaller groups. Students will each receive a pronunciation guide to glue in their English books and work in small groups to articulate pronunciation and complete definitions.
Learning Experience Instructions
1. Teacher will read the focus text with the students (Whole class activity)
2. Students will write down any words that are unfamiliar to them
3. Students will then work together in small groups to identify definitions for each word
4. Students will then proceed to use the pronunciation guide to articulate the correct sounds for each word.
Assessment
Summative Assessment: Students will be required to learn these terms and definitions over the period of the unit. At the end of the semester, students will have a written test on the different Bardi words and there meaning.
